Police officer-bodyguard faces contempt hearing
Saturday, September 04, 2010

The Coraopolis police officer who works as Ben Roethlisberger's bodyguard must appear in court on Sept. 24 to explain to an Allegheny County judge why he should not be held in contempt for failing to answer a subpoena in a criminal case.

Anthony Barravecchio was supposed to appear before Judge Anthony M. Mariani on Thursday morning for a drug case but did not show up until Thursday afternoon.

Further, according to court staff, Officer Barravecchio called in to chambers on Wednesday and was rude and abusive to three different employees.

Officer Barravecchio was with Mr. Roethlisberger in Milledgeville, Ga., earlier this year when the Steelers' quarterback was accused of sexually assaulting a college student.

The officer has repeatedly claimed he did nothing wrong and was never disciplined.
